The Department of Food & Rural Affairs is the government department responsible for making changes to the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.

In July 2008, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee published its response to the consultation process. As you can see below, the overwhelming majority of the changes that Justice For Ted propose are supported by the government. The problem, as ever, is that since publication of this document there has been little sign of progress. The complaints procedure remain exactly as before and it would appear that there is no immediate commitment to fund any of the recommendations.

This is inexcusable and that is why we must all do everything we can to push our campaign up the political agenda so that Ministers and MPs have no choice but to take this seriously. If we remain silent, then there is every likelihood that that this will be forgotten about and pet owners will still be left in the same unacceptable situation that prevails at the time of writing.

I urge you to read the document below and satisfy yourself that what we are doing at Justice For Ted is nothing more than promoting views that government and the RCVS/BVA have independently concluded to be necessary to protect the rights of pet owners.
